Debate, Poetry, and Prose Competition by the Center for Languages

As part of Université La Sagesse’s 150th Jubilee celebrations, the Center for Languages hosted a literary and intellectual gathering on Thursday, June 5.

The event featured a trilingual Debate, Poetry, and Prose Competition in Arabic, French, and English, bringing together students from the university and Sagesse schools.

The event was held in the presence of Professor George N. Nehme, President of the University, Dr. Ryan Haykal, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Dr. Etienne Harb, Vice President for Research. Their participation reflects the administration’s continued support for student-focused and academically enriching initiatives.

Participants presented their work around the role of universities in shaping minds, promoting culture, and advancing society. Through well-argued debates, touching poetry, and expressive prose, the students highlighted the enduring mission of La Sagesse in forming generations past and present.

Scholarships were awarded to the top performers:

  • Debate (French): First prize ($1,000 – $500 each) –Adella Via Eid and Tina Moussa (Université La Sagesse)
  • Poetry (English): First prize ($800) – Cynthia Sabra (Université La Sagesse)
  • Prose (Arabic): Second prize ($500) – Maev Bou Chaaya (Sagesse Brasilia School)

The event shows Université La Sagesse’s commitment to academic excellence, cultural dialogue, and student empowerment.
