Université La Sagesse (ULS), represented by Dr. Alain Osta, took part in the ReTour – Building Resilient SMEs in the Tourism Industry consortium meeting in Amman, Jordan, reaffirming the University’s active role in regional and international collaboration.
Co-funded by the European Union under the Interreg NEXT MED Programme, ReTour brings together partners from across the Mediterranean to support a more resilient, innovative, digitally enabled, and sustainable tourism sector.
During the meeting, Dr. Osta joined partners from Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST), SPECTO, and European partner institutions to review the project’s progress, exchange expertise, coordinate upcoming activities and discuss the next milestones for implementation.
The meeting also coincided with the Innovation and Resilience Forum for the Tourism Sector, held in Amman under the patronage of Her Highness Sharifa Noufa bint Nasser. The forum brought together policymakers, experts, tourism-sector representatives, SMEs, universities, innovation institutions, and ReTour partners to explore how innovation and technology can respond to the real and evolving needs of the tourism sector.
A key focus was on how AI, data analytics, digital transformation, and early-warning systems can contribute to strengthening the resilience of tourism SMEs and helping them better anticipate and adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
The presentation and discussion around the ReTour AI-powered platform were particularly valuable, highlighting the importance of developing digital solutions collaboratively with the needs and experiences of SMEs at the center, while also considering user experience, data requirements, governance, and sustainability.
Through its participation in ReTour, ULS continues to contribute its expertise to Mediterranean collaboration, connecting knowledge, innovation, and technology to help shape a more resilient and sustainable future for tourism.
Thank you to all partners for the constructive discussions and continued collaboration. Looking forward to the next steps and to contributing together to the successful implementation of ReTour.
From Lebanon to the Mediterranean, ULS continues to connect, collaborate, and innovate.
