SUMMARY:التحدّيات أمام السلطة القضائية وسبل معالجتها في كلية الحقوق
DESCRIPTION:نظمت كلية الحقوق في جامعة الحكمة مؤتمرًا تحت عنوان: “التحديات أمام السلطة القضائية وسبل معالجتها” برعاية وحضور وزير العدل المحامي عادل نصار وممثل راعي أبرشية بيروت للموارنة المطران بولس عبد الساتر، النائب الأسقفي العام المونسنيور اغناطيوس الأسمر، والنائب نديم الجميل، ورئيس مجلس القضاء الأعلى القاضي سهيل عبود، ورئيس هيئة التفتيش القضائي القاضي جورج عطية، ونقيب المحامين في بيروت فادي المصري، وممثلة نقيب محامي طرابلس النقيبة السابقة ماري تيريز القوال، ورئيس جامعة الحكمة البروفسور جورج نعمة، وعميد كلية الحقوق في الجامعة الدكتور شادي سعد، والوزيرين السابقين النقيب شكيب قرطباوي، والسيدة منى عفيش، والرئيس السابق لمجلس القضاء الأعلى القاضي غالب غانم، ورئيس مجلس الشورى السابق القاضي شكري صادر، والرئيس السابقة لجامعة الحكمة البرفسور لارا كرم البستاني وحشد من القضاة والمحامين ورجال القانون وعائلة جامعة الحكمة من نواب الرئيس وعمداء وأساتذة وحشد من الطلاب. \nيأتي المؤتمر الذي تضمن ثلاث جلسات عمل بمشاركة قضاة ورجال قانون في سياق مبادرة جامعة الحكمة إلى التقدم بمقترحات علمية وقانونية ستُستخرج منها توصيات لإرسالها إلى المجلس النيابي وإغناء النقاش الذي سيبدأ في اللجان وبعدها الهيئة العامة حول قانون استقلالية القضاء بعد إقرار مجلس الوزراء أخيرًا مشروع قانون بهذا الصدد، بحيث تسهم المقترحات والآراء التي تقدم بها المشاركون في المؤتمر من قضاة ورجال اختصاص مشهود لهم بمواقعهم الحالية والسابقة وخبرتهم الغنية بما يحصّن القانون المأمول إقراره ويضمن تحقيقه أهدافه الإصلاحية المنشودة. \n \nالعميد سعد \nإستهل المؤتمر بالنشيد الوطني اللبناني فنشيد جامعة الحكمة وكلمة ترحيبية لعريف المؤتمر الإعلامي بسام أبو زيد، ثم بدأت الجلسة الإفتتاحية بكلمة عميد كلية الحقوق في جامعة الحكمة الدكتور شادي سعد الذي لفت إلى أن المؤتمر يأتي بعد مرور ما يقارب مئة وخمسين عامًا على افتتاح أول مدرسة للحقوق في لبنان والمنطقة، وعاد بالذاكرة إلى كلمات المؤسس المطران يوسف الدبس، يوم الافتتاح حين قال: “إن الوطن، في مثل هذا الزمن، بأمس الحاجة إلى تعميم معرفة القوانين”. كما استحضر ما جاء في خطبة أول أستاذ في مدرسة الحقوق في الحكمة، المحامي نقولا نقاش، حين بيّن أن “القانون، الكلمة السريانية المعربة، يعني الأصل والمقياس لكل شيء، هو من أعظم الأمور اللازمة لعموم الأمم”. \nوتابع العميد سعد قائلا: “اليوم، نؤكد من جديد أن “حكمة” هذا الزمن لا تزال ماضية على الدرب ذاته، بقيادة وليّها، رئيس أساقفة بيروت للموارنة سيادة المطران بولس عبد الساتر السامي الاحترام، الذي قال في عظته الشهيرة: الزعيم الحقيقي هو من يقول الحق دومًا، من دون مواربة ولا خوف، ولا يساوم عليه، ويعمل لخير المواطن، كل مواطن، ومن دون تردد”. وتابع عميد كلية الحقوق في جامعة الحكمة مضيفا أن ما من تجسيد أصدق لهذا القول، إلا أن تكون السلطة القضائية حرّة ومستقلة، فتشكّل الضمانة الأساس للوطن والمواطنين، دون حاجتهم إلى أي ضمانة أخرى. \nوتابع أن المؤتمر الذي يأتي بعد إحالة الحكومة إلى المجلس النيابي قبل أسبوع مشروع قانون تنظيم القضاء العدلي، يشكل فرصة لنقاش علمي معمّق، تقوده النخبة الحقوقية الوطنية من داخل هذا الصرح الحقوقي. وأردف الدكتور شادي سعد قائلا “إن انطلاقة عهد جديد؛ ووخطاب قسم كان التعهد الأول لفخامة الرئيس فيه، العمل على إقرار قانون استقلالية القضاء؛ وووزير عدل استثنائي بقراره الحر ومناقبيته، خارج من رحم أم النقابات؛ وكذلك رئيس مجلس القضاء الأعلى، صلبًا كصخر بلاد جبيل، وانعكاسًا لأيام الزمن الجميل؛ ومجلس قضاء أعلى في بداية ولايته يضم أفضل الكفاءات؛ ونقابتي محامين متأهبتان بقيادة نقيبين يدركان قدسية المعادلة التي توازن بين القضاء والمحاماة؛ وجامعات واعية لدورها في بناء الدولة، وإن جامعة الحكمة خير دليل على ذلك، حيث اعتبر رئيسها البروفيسور جورج نعمة أن رسالتها الوطنية تسمو على كل أمر آخر؛ كل ذلك يشكل تراكما للفرص الثمينة لصياغة رؤية متكاملة نحو قضاء نطمح إليه جميعًا”. \nأضاف عميد كلية الحقوق في الحكمة: “نحن لا نطالب بالمستحيل، نحن نطالب بالحق: ونريد قضاءً مستقلاً عن كل السلطات، يعمل معها تحت سقف الدستور، لا تابعًا لها ولا خاضعًا. نريد قضاءً منصفًا، محصّنًا من التدخلات، يلتزم بأصول المحاكمة العادلة والسريعة، دون تسرّع. نريد قضاءً نزيهًا، يشبه غالبية قضاة لبنان الشرفاء، لا يعرف المساومة ولا يرضخ لضغوط. نريد قضاءً مستقلاً ماليًا، له موازنته وآلياته في الصرف من دون منّة من أحد. نريد قضاءً عصريًا، يواكب التحولات الرقمية، ويتحرر من بيروقراطية القرن الماضي. نريد قضاءً ضامنًا للحريات والحقوق، لا سلطة فوقه إلا القانون”. \nوختم مؤكدًا أن هذه هي العدالة التي نستحقها وهذا هو القضاء الذي نطمح إليه وهو قضاء عادل، مستقل، وفاعل، لا خاضع، ولا خائف، ولا غائب. \n\n \nالبروفسور نعمة\n\nبعدها كانت كلمة رئيس جامعة الحكمة البروفسور جورج نعمة الذي لفت إلى أن المؤتمر ليس مجرد لقاء أكاديمي أو فكري عابر، بل هو محطة مفصلية على طريق إعادة بناء دولة القانون والمؤسسات في لبنان، مضيفا أن استقلالية القضاء ليست مجرد شعار يرفع عاليا، بل هي الضمان الحقيقي لحقوق المواطنين وحرياتهم، والحصن المنيع ضد كل أشكال الظلم والإستبداد. \nوقال رئيس جامعة الحكمة: “لم يكن لبنان يومًا هامشيًا في تاريخ القانون بل لعب منذ القدم دورًا محوريًا في ميدان الحقوق وقد تجلى ذلك بوضوح منذ تأسيس مدرسة الحقوق الرومانية في بيروت التي أنارت العالم بفكرها القانوني وأسست الكثير من المبادئ القانونية التي ما زالت راسخة حتى يومنا هذا. ومن هذا الإرث العريق، ولدت مدرسة الحقوق في جامعة الحكمة منذ مئة وخمسين عامًا على يد صاحب الرؤية الثاقبة راعي أبرشية بيروت المثلث الرحمات المطران يوسف الدبس، لتكون منارة للعلم والمعرفة، سباقة ورائدة في بلورة الحق ودعم العدالة التي من خلالها نبني الإنسان ونحمي الكيان”. \nوتابع البروفسور نعمة أن قامات كبيرة من رجال القانون والسياسة تخرجوا من الكلية التي لعبت دورًا بارزًا في تاريخ لبنان وصيرورته وأسهمت في بناء مختلف مؤسساته. وتابع أن جامعة الحكمة، هذا الصرح العلمي العريق، كانت دائمًا منخرطة بتاريخ الوطن وتحدياته. فقد رافقت ولادة ونشأة دولة لبنان الكبير واستقلال عام 1943 وعايشت الحرب اللبنانية وواجهت انهيار المؤسسات وهي تعود اليوم لتسهم بكل ما أوتيت به من حكمة وقوة وعزم في إعادة بناء دولة لبنان ومؤسساته لا سيما مرفق عام العدل الذي يشكل الدعامة الأساسية لقيام الدولة واستقرار الوطن. \nوأعلن رئيس جامعة الحكمة الإلتزام بالرسالة المرتكزة على قيم الجامعة وهي الحرية والعدالة والمسؤولية الإجتماعية واحترام كرامة الإنسان. وقال “إننا نؤمن بأن استقلالية القضاء ليست ترفًا بل ضرورة ملحة وهي ليست مطلبًا فئويًا بل هي حاجة وطنية ماسة. فلا دولة قوية من دون قضاء مستقل، ولا اقتصاد مزدهر من دون عدالة ناجزة، ولا مجتمع متماسك من دون سيادة القانون”. وختم الرئيس البروفسور نعمة واضعًا طاقات وخبرات جامعة الحكمة، وفي طليعتها كلية الحقوق، في تصرف الدولة اللبنانية لكي يتم النهوض بالمؤسسات وفي مقدمها القضاء كما عهده لبنان في زمن عزه: مستقلا، فاعلا، شفافًا وخاضعًا فقط لسلطة القانون. ودعا رئيس جامعة الحكمة إلى العودة إلى جوهر الدولة وميزان كرامتها عبر تعزيز استقلال القضاء وحماية القضاة وتحديث التشريعات وإعادة ثقة المواطن اللبناني بالمؤسسات والمرافق العامة. \nالنقيب المصري \nثم ألقى نقيب المحامين فادي المصري كلمة أبدى فيها فخره واعتزازه بجامعة الحكمة التي تحافظ على إرث حقوقي تاريخي، وتتميز في الوقت نفسه برؤيا وتطلع دائم يساعد على تطوير المجتمع اللبناني والنظام اللبناني،  ودعا الطلاب إلى الإغتناء من الإرث الغني للجامعة وما تسعى إليه من تقدم دائم ومواكبة للتجدد والعصرنة والحداثة. \nوعبّر نقيب المحامين عن ارتياحه لتحوّل موضوع استقلال السلطة القضائية إلى عمل مؤسساتي تهتم به الدولة اللبنانية وتوليه الأولوية في الوقت الحاضر، بعدما كان فقط شأنًا نقابيًا وقضائيًا طيلة الفترة الماضية. \nوعدّد النقيب المصري التحديات أمام السلطة القضائية وسبل معالجتها كالتالي: \n–        تحديث معهد الدروس القضائية الذي هو مفخرة للبنان وأقدم مدرسة لإعداد القضاة في العالم العربي، إذ أنشى عام 1961 بعد سنتين فقط على إنشاء المعهد الوطني للقضاء في فرنسا. وذكّر بأن المعهد توسع عام 1983 في عهد الرئيس أمين الجميل الذي كان قد شهد مراسيم اشتراعية أدت إلى نهضة قضائية وقانونية. ودعا إلى نهضة في معهد الدروس بحيث يتم تأمين دروس للمتدرجين تواكب متطلبات العصر الحالي. \n–        إلغاء المحاكم الإستثنائية من المحكمة العسكرية وصولا إلى المجلس العدلي، والعودة إلى محاكم العدلية تحت إشراف السلطة القضائية المستقلة وحدها. \n–        معالجة الوضع المالي والمادي للقضاة، من حيث المداخيل من جهة، ومن حيث قاعات المحاكم ومقرات العمل من جهة ثانية. \n–        إستقلالية القضاء وفصل السلطات ولا سيما تحرير التشكيلات من الفيتو السياسي \n–        تأمين حق الدفاع وصون قدسيته وتأمين الإحترام الحقيقي للمادة 47 لناحية حضور المحامي للإستجوابات والسماح له بالإطلاع على الملف بكامله لأن حق الدفاع حق شمولي. \n–        معالجة موضوع السجون الذي يرتبط بنهضة السلطة القضائية حيث من غير المقبول أن تبلغ نسبة الإكتظاظ 286 في المئة. \nوأمل أن يعود لبنان بلدًا مثاليا لاحترام الإنسان وحقوقه ويعكس وجود الله على الأرض. \n\n \nالوزير نصار \n‏بدوره شكر الوزير نصار جامعة الحكمة على تنظيمها للمؤتمر وعلى حضورها في المشهد التربوي وعلى ما تنتجه من نخبة للمجتمع اللبناني ما يؤدي إلى تطوير هذا المجتمع والمؤسسات وقال : \nأنا فخور بأني اتكلم من صرح هذه الجامعة امامكم اليوم وسأتكلم عن موضوعين أساسيين: الأول موضوع قانون إستقلالية القضاء الذي هو موضوع أساسي ولا أؤيد ما قاله البعض بأن قانون استقلالية القضاء يتم بناؤه اليوم لانه كان هناك استقلالية في السابق إلا أنها كانت غير كافية أو بحاجة إلى تطوير والمطلوب أن نضيف إلى هذه القوانين ما يؤمن الاستقلالية ،وأريد بالتالي توجيه تحية إلى جميع قضاة لبنان ورئيس مجلس القضاء الأعلى والرؤساء السابقين على كل ما أنجزوه خلال الفترة السابقة لأننا لا نبني اليوم استقلالية وكأنه لم يكن هناك استقلالية في القضاء في الماضي بالمطلق ، بل كان هناك استقلالية وكان هناك شوائب والمشروع الذي سيعرض على مجلس النواب بعد حوالي أسبوع والنقاش الذي سيحصل حوله يهدف الى تطوير وتحسين هذه الاستقلالية ولكن مع الاستقلالية يجب أن نتكلم عن الثقة التي يجب إعادة بنائها فالثقة مفقودة في المؤسسات ،في القواعد الديمقراطية، في القضاء والثقة بأنفسنا.. اما لماذا فقدت الثقة فالأسباب كثيرة. فقد تغيرت الظروف في كل العالم و تكاثرت مواقع التواصل والوسائل الإعلامية وكثر التشكيك وأصبح هناك تشكيك في كل شيء. \nواضاف ” نحن اليوم في جامعة الحكمة “والحكمة” أصبحت اليوم ضرورة في كل ما نقوم به كمسؤولين “الحكمة” في إدارة البلد ،في استعادة سيادة لبنان واستقلاله ، الحكمة في استعادة دولة القانون ..”فالحكمة” أساسية و من غير “حكمة” لن نصل إلى أي مكان ولن نحقق أي هدف ومن غير حوار فيما بيننا لن نصل إلى أي مكان لأن القضاء في النهاية هو جزء من المجتمع وعندما يشكك المجتمع في كل شيء من المؤكد أنه سيشكك في قضائه، إذا ً نحن اليوم في معركة ليس فقط لاستقلال القضاء بل نحن في معركة لاستعادة الثقة التي تمر “بالحكمة” وبالقدرة بأن نتوقف قليلا وننظر إلى نظامنا الديمقراطي وإلى ماضينا المليء بالصعوبات كما بالإنجازات ويجب استعادة هذه الثقة بأنفسنا وبقدرتنا على التطوير دون أن نعتبر أن ما تم في السابق لا نريد الاعتراف به وبكل ما تم إنجازه بالماضي لأن ما يمكن أن ننظر إليه في الماضي يساعدنا على إصلاح ما يمكن إنجازه في المستقبل . كلما ندفن ماضينا سنشكك في مستقبلنا لذلك يجب مواجهة ماضينا وتقبّل الشوائب والإنجازات ولنتذكر أن القضاء الذي عمل في لبنان في ظروف جداً صعبة مادياً وأمنياً وسياسياً استطاع الاستمرار وهذا الاستمرار هو الحجر الأساس لبناء استقلالية متطورة اليوم . وبالممارسة، لذلك يجب علينا اليوم أن نتمتع بالثقة والحكمة فالأولى دون الثانية لن توصلنا إلى مكان . \nاما بالنسبة لمشروع القانون الذي سيعرض على مجلس النواب فهو مبني على مبدأ الحكمة التي تسمح للجسم القضائي المحافظة على تماسكه وانصهاره وفي الوقت نفسه أن يكون قادراً على تجديد نفسه وأن تتم تعيينات المجلس القضاء الأعلى إمّا من خلال الإنتخاب وإمّا من خلال اقتراح أسماء من قبل القضاء ويتم تعيينها من قبل السلطة التنفيذية. وهذا التوازن بين الاثنين يسمح للقضاء في الوقت نفسه بناء استقلاليته والمحافظة على هيبته وتماسك الجسم القضائي . \nفليس المطلوب أن يتحول القضاء إلى مسرح انتخابي وليس مسموحاً أيضا أن تؤثر السلطة التنفيذية على مسار القضاة وعملهم وهذا التوازن الذي عملنا عليه في قانون استقلالية سلطة القضاء يتضمن أيضا استقلالية مادية لنصل إلى موازنة خاصة بمجلس القضاء كما يتضمن ضرورة تقييم القضاة واستقلالية التفتيش القضائي وآلية تعيين مجلس القضاء الأعلى. \n كل هذه العناصر تم إدراجها في القانون الجديد وسنحاول من خلال هذه العناصر إعطاء السلطة القضائية زخما جديدا وسنستعيد أكثر وأكثر ثقة المجتمع بالقضاء . \nواضاف نصار ” كما يتضمن القانون الجديد حق التعبير وحق إنشاء جمعيات ولكن ضمن أخلاقيات وواجبات القضاة بالمحافظة على حيادهم وعلى استقلالهم ، أي النظر إلى الملف دون تأثر بالعوامل الخارجية أي العوامل السياسية والضغوطات. \nوختم نصار ” صحيح أن هذا القانون يحمي القضاة من السلطة السياسية ولكن يعود للقاضي أن يحافظ على حياده تجاه الضغوطات التي من الممكن أن تؤثر على عمله . \n  \nجلسات العمل \nثم عقدت ثلاث جلسات عمل. الأولى حول الأحكام القانونية التي ترعى المجلس الأعلى للقضاء وصلاحياته حيث تناول البحث تأليف المجلس الأعلى للقضاء وصلاحياته وحق الطعن في قراراته، بمشاركة القاضي جون قزي، الرئيس الأول السابق غالب غانم، القاضي نجاة أبو شقرا. أدار الحوار القاضي فيصل مكي. \nوبحثت جلسة العمل الثانية في دور المجلس الأعلى للقضاء في تعيين القضاة الأصيلين وتناولت التحديات أمام القاضي التي قد تؤثر على تقييمه وكيفية إقرار التشكيلات/ المناقلات القضائية، وعدم جواز نقل القاضي والمداورة في المناطق وقضاة المهمة والإنتدابات، وذلك بمشاركة الوزير عادل نصار، الرئيس الأول سهيل عبود، الوزير السابق شكيب قرطباوي، الرئيس شكري صادر. أدار الحوار القاضي فادي العنيسي. \nوفي جلسة العمل الثالثة تمحور النقاش حول عرقلة مسار العدالة وقضية انفجار مرفأ بيروت كنموذج. وتركز البحث على إشكاليات الحصانات والأذونات وطلبات الرد والتنحي ونقل الدعوى، ودور النيابة العامة التمييزية في القضايا المحالة على المجلس العدلي وإشكالية التعويضات المادية للمتضررين. أدار الحوار البروفسور لارا كرم البستاني بمشاركة الأستاذ موسى خوري، القاضي جوزف سماحة، القاضي رندا كفوري، والوزير السابق زياد بارود.

SUMMARY:Journée internationale des infirmières et des infirmiers 2025 à la Faculté de santé publique
DESCRIPTION:À l’occasion de la Journée internationale des infirmières et infirmiers 2025\, le Département des sciences infirmières de la Faculté de santé publique de l’Université La Sagesse a organisé\, le lundi 12 mai\, une conférence\, autour du thème : « Caring for Nurses\, Strengthening Our World ».\n\nCet événement a rassemblé étudiants et enseignants dans une ambiance chaleureuse et engagée. \n\n\n \n\nLa conférence a été marquée par la présence inspirante de Dr Myrna Abi Abdallah Doumit\, une référence incontournable du leadership infirmier au Liban et à l’échelle internationale. Ancienne présidente de l’Ordre des infirmiers et infirmières du Liban\, elle a dirigé la profession durant des périodes de crise majeures\, notamment la pandémie de COVID-19\, l’explosion du port de Beyrouth et la crise économique. Son engagement en faveur de la santé mondiale a été salué par de nombreuses distinctions\, dont le Prix de reconnaissance des agents de santé de l’OMS pour le leadership (2021) et l’Ordre du Mérite libanais (2022). Elle a aussi reçu le titre de « Heroine of Health » (2021)\, une distinction décernée par le Conseil international des infirmières et Women in Global Health. Dr Doumit est actuellement élue représentante actuelle de la région MENA au sein du Conseil international des infirmières (ICN). \n\n\n \nSon intervention a mis en lumière l’importance de prendre soin des soignants\, de renforcer leur résilience\, et de développer des compétences de leadership\, notamment dans les contextes de crise. DESCRIPTION:Scholarships that Shape Futures at Université La Sagesse \nUniversité La Sagesse launched an initiative to offer academic scholarships. During a ceremony\, which 90 scholarships were awarded to 66 students. These scholarships covered between 50%\, 75%\, and 100% of tuition fees based on the students’ grades from the spring and fall semesters. Some of the high-achieving students received two scholarships. \nThe event took place at the main campus in and was attended by the President Professor Georges Nehme\, members of the University Council\, Dean of Student Affairs Father Dr. Milad Aboudd\, Director of the Student Affairs Office Ziad Najjar\, the scholarship recipients and their families\, along with members of Université La Sagesse from both the administrative and academic bodies. \nIn his speech\, Professor Nehme stated that the academic scholarships are part of the university’s policy to provide student services. Under this policy\, 20% of the annual budget is allocated to scholarships and other forms of assistance\, aiming to support students and offer equal opportunities for academic achievement. \nProfessor Nehme explained that Université La Sagesse managed to overcome the financial crisis that erupted in 2019. Faculty salaries have regained 100% of their pre-crisis value\, while current tuition fees for students represent only 60% of what they were before the crisis that many other institutions have not been able to achieve. \nHe added that Université La Sagesse is proud of all its students without exception and stands by each one of them by offering the highest quality education at a thoughtfully calculated cost. He also said that Université La Sagesse wants its students to be prepared not only to enter the job market but also to serve our nation\, Lebanon. This is a core goal of the university and one constantly emphasized by the Chancellor of Université La Sagesse\, His Excellency Monsignor Boulos Abdul Sater\, the Maronite Archbishop of Beirut. \nProfessor Nehme pointed out that Université La Sagesse\, founded in 1875\, is one of the three oldest universities in Lebanon alongside the American University of Beirut and Université Saint Joseph. Its founder\, the late Archbishop Youssef El Debs\, envisioned it as a place for dialogue\, peace\, and the promotion of human values. Professor Nehme added that this venerable history entails great responsibilities: to preserve this distinguished institution and to ensure its growth through scientific research and by keeping pace with modernization\, institutional requirements\, and evolving teaching methodologies and skills. \nProfessor Nehme affirmed that the university has been implementing a strategic five-year plan (2021–2026)\, which will be accomplished ahead of schedule\, allowing for the preparation of a new five-year plan (2026–2031) that will address more goals and challenges and align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. \nHe also highlighted major achievements in this area\, noting that the university has worked to attract highly qualified and professional teaching staff to offer the best educational experience. He mentioned that Université La Sagesse is continuing its pursuit of accreditation from leading international bodies to enhance its academic standing\, while also strengthening partnerships with international universities to provide students with opportunities for academic exchange. \nThe president also noted several initiatives aimed at fostering student initiative and helping them integrate into the job market\, including through the Center for Continuing Education and the Pôle de l’Université La Sagesse pour l’Entrepreneuriat\, in collaboration with the Université de Lorraine. He emphasized the importance of the university’s inclusion center\, which supports students with special needs by ensuring their right to education and preventing the loss of their talents and skills. \nHe also announced that a multidisciplinary policlinic will open this coming summer to provide healthcare services to the university community\, including faculty\, staff\, employees\, students\, and their families. All these efforts reflect Université La Sagesse’s social\, human\, and ethical commitment to the society\, in addition to its academic mission. \nScholarships Policy\nMr. Ziad Najjar\, Director of the Office of Student Affairs\, elaborated on the university’s scholarship policy. He explained that in addition to the academic excellence scholarships\, the university offers scholarships to students who excel in the French and Lebanese Baccalaureate exams by exempting them from part of the first semester tuition. DESCRIPTION:On May 22\, 2025\, the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (FEBA) at Université La Sagesse\, in collaboration with BOB Finance\, organized the FEBA Marketing Competition 2025. \nThe competition brought together student teams who presented strategic marketing campaigns aimed at promoting the newly launched BOB App digital wallet. Each team delivered its proposal in front of a live audience and a jury of professionals from the marketing and financial sectors. \nA total of 23 teams participated in the competition\, and 8 teams advanced to the final round. SUMMARY:2025 Commencement Ceremony - The 150-Year Jubilee Class of 2025
DESCRIPTION:إحتفلت جامعة الحكمة بتخريج طلابها لعام 2024-2025، دفعة اليوبيل الـ150 على تأسيس الجامعة، برعاية غبطة البطريرك الماروني الكاردينال مار بشارة بطرس الراعي الذي حضر ضيف شرف، وتم استقباله من قبل وليّ الجامعة رئيس أساقفة بيروت للموارنة المطران بولس عبد الساتر ورئيس الجامعة البروفسور جورج نعمة ونوابه، ترحيبًا بمشاركته الجامعة في مناسبة إستثنائية ومميزة تسلط الضوء على عراقتها. فجامعة الحكمة التي تأسست عام 1875 من أقدم الجامعات في لبنان وقد هدف مؤسسها المثلث الرحمات المطران يوسف الدبس إلى إنشاء معهد لتعليم الحقوق والفقه باللغة العربية، الأمر الذي جسّد جرأة وانفتاحًا في مرحلة لم يكن يطبق فيها إلا القانون العثماني. \n\nنظم الإحتفال في حرم كلية السياحة وإدارة الفنادق في جامعة الحكمة في الأشرفية، بحضور المطران بولس مطر، النائب البطريركي العام المطران حنا علوان، العضو في الكوريا البطريركية المطران الياس نصار، راعي أبرشية اللاذقية المارونية المطران أنطوان شبير، النائب البطريركي المطران أنطوان عوكر، رئيس الطائفة الكلدانية المطران ميشال قصرجي، رئيس رهبنة الآباء المختاريين للأرمن الإجتماعي في المستشفى الأخت لميا تامر، رئيسة مدرسة الحكمة الأشرفية نادين أبي راشد، رئيس مدرسة “الحكمة هاي سكول” فرع “مريم أم الحكمة” – عين سعادة الخوري أنطوان عساف، رئيس معهد الحكمة الفني الخوري هادي عبود، الرئيسة السابقة لجامعة الحكمة البروفسور لارا كرم البستاني، وشخصيات عسكرية ونقابية وقانونية وقضائية ووروحية ودبلوماسية وتربوية، وشركاء للجامعة وعائلة الجامعة وحشد من أهالي الخريجين والخريجات. \n\nالبطريرك الراعي: لم تكن الحكمة مجرد مؤسسة للتعليم بل كانت منبعًا للفكر والضمير \nوتوقف البطريرك مار بشارة بطرس الراعي في الكلمة التي ألقاها أمام رسالة جامعة الحكمة مذكرًا بأن رئيس أساقفة بيروت المثلث الرحمات المطران يوسف الدبس أسسها عام 1875 في أعقاب مجازر عام 1860 من أجل وحدة اللبنانيين على العلم والحقيقة والعدالة والمحبة والسلام. أضاف أن رسالة الجامعة منذ تأسيسها الإنفتاح على العالمية والتطور وفي كلياتها الثماني: الحقوق، والعلوم اللاهوتية، وإدارة الأعمال والإقتصاد، والشرع الكنسي، والسياحة والعلوم الفندقية، والعلوم السياسية والعلاقات الدولية، والصحة العامة، والهندسة، تهيء أجيالا من اللبنانيات واللبنانيين لمواكبة تطورات سوق العمل وترافق الناشطين من أفراد المجتمع في سعيهم للحصول على المعرفة. أضاف البطريرك الراعي أن طلاب الجامعة مدعوون ليكونوا عناصر فعالين لإحراز التقدم والإبتكار. \nثم تناول البطريرك الراعي رؤية الجامعة لافتًا إلى أنها تسعى لأن تصبح مركزًا للبحوث الأساسية والتطبيقية التي تلبي احتياجات وتطورات سوق العمل، وتعمل على تحفيز الروح الريادية لدى الشباب مما يسهّل اندماجهم المهني وتعمل على تعزيز ثقافة الحياة والأسرة كونها جامعة متجذرة في حياة المدينة. \nوأكد البطريرك الماروني أن جامعة الحكمة لم تكن يومًا مجرد مؤسسة للتعليم، بل كانت على الدوام منبعًا للفكر وتربية للضمير ومنارة للحكمة كمنهج حياة ورسالة مستمرة والتزام إنساني ووطني. وفي هذا اليوم تتجدد رسالتها في الخريجين والخريجات في دفعة 2025، ويستمر عهدها مع الأجيال المتعاقبة. \nوقال البطريرك الراعي إن الإحتفال باليوبيل المئة والخمسين لجامعة الحكمة هو يوم مبارك ويختصر قرنًا ونصفًا من العطاء التربوي والفكري والوطني والكنسي، موجهًا التحية للأساقفة الذين تعاقبوا على أبرشية بيروت وأولياء الجامعة من المطران المؤسس يوسف الدبس، مرورًا بخلفائه وصولا إلى المطرانين بولس مطر وبولس عبد الساتر. كما توجه بالتحية لرئيس الجامعة البروفسور جورج نعمة على تفانيه في ترسيخ حضور الجامعة كمركز أكاديمي رائد ومكان حيّ للعلم والقيم والمواطنة. وحيّى الهيئتين التعليمية والإدارية وكذلك الأهل والخريجين والخريجات الذين يقفون على عتبة جديدة في حياتهم والوطن ينتظرهم، والجامعة ترسلهم إلى واحات المجتمع والوطن كإرسال ليتورجي وتقول لهم: “إذهبوا بسلام!” \nورأى البطريرك الماروني أن هذا الإحتفال يحمل طابعًا ليتورجيًا لأنه احتفال بنعمة المعرفة التي هي من الله، وبنمو المواهب التي هي من الروح القدس، وهذا التخرج هو نوع من “الإرسالية” لأنكم اليوم ترسلون إلى العالم كما كان السيد المسيح يرسل تلامذته بعد إعدادهم ليكونوا نورًا وملحًا في الأرض. \nوقال للمتخرجين: “أنتم بهذا التخرج تدخلون رحاب الوطن، لا كمتفرّجين، بل كفاعلين ومبدعين ومؤمنين بقدرتكم على صنع الفرق. لبنان ينتظركم لتبنوا وتنيروا وتجدّدوا. كونوا سفراء الثقة، وكونوا التغيير الذي ترجونه والإلتزام في الأخلاق المهنية. وازرعوا في الوطن ما تلقيتم من حكمة وصدق وتجرّد ومحبة للحق”. \nوختم البطريرك كلمته بالصلاة من أجل جامعة الحكمة في يوبيلها المئة والخمسين لكي تبقى منارة الإشعاع وعلامة رجاء وجسرًا بين العلم والإيمان. \n   \nدرع تذكاري للبطريرك وعبد الساتر: لبنان مستمر بتضحيات بطاركته \nوبعد انتهاء كلمة البطريرك، سلمه ولي الجامعة سيادة المطران بولس عبد الساتر ورئيسها البروفسور جورج نعمة درعًا تذكاريًا كتب عليه “درع اليوبيل الـ 150 يُقدم لصاحب الغبطة البطريرك الراعي”. \nوألقى المطران بولس عبد الساتر كلمة جاء فيها: “لم نجد من هو أكرم من غبطتكم وأحب على قلوبنا لنطلب منه أن يكون ضيف الشرف في هذه المناسبة. فشكرًا لكم تلبيتكم دعوتنا. \nنطلب من غبطتكم الصلاة على نيّة جامعة الحكمة وطلابها ومعلميها وموظفيها وأهلها حتى تبقى صرحًا تربويًا مؤثرًا في المجتمع اللبناني، ونطلب منكم أيضا الصلاة على نيّة وطننا لبنان الذي يستمر، بفضل جهدكم وجهد العديد من البطاركة الذين سبقوكم وتضحياتكم، بلدَ الإنسان والحرية”. \nثم اتخذت صورة تذكارية للبطريرك مار بشارة بطرس الراعي محاطًا بالمطران بولس عبد الساتر ورئيس الجامعة ونوابه والعمداء والطلاب المتخرجين.  \nالبروفسور نعمة: لهذا العام بعد يوبيليّ مضيء \nوكان رئيس جامعة الحكمة قد أكد في كلمته أن هذا العام ليس مجرد عام دراسي يُطوى، بل إنه يحمل نبضًا استثنائيًا وبعدًا يوبيليًا مضيئًا، يُخلّد بمرور مئة وخمسين سنة على ولادة جامعة الحكمة من خلال إنشاء كليتها للحقوق، الرائدة الأولى في لبنان والشرق الأوسط. \nوتابع أن جامعة الحكمة لم تكن يوما برجًا عاجيًا منعزلا عن تاريخ الوطن وتحدياته. فقد شهدت ولادة لبنان الكبير ورافقت نشأته واحتفلت باستقلاله عام 1943، وعايشت الحرب اللبنانية العاصفة وانهيار المؤسسات، وهي تنهض اليوم مجددًا لتسهم بكل ما أوتيت به من حكمة وقوة وعزم في إعادة بناء دولة لبنان ومؤسساته. \nأضاف أن ما يزيد من جلال هذا اليوم وفرحه، هو حضور صاحب الغبطة والنيافة البطريرك الكاردينال مار بشارة بطرس الراعي، أب الكنيسة المارونية ومرجع القيم الوطنية والروحية ومنارتها. وقال: “إن حضوركم وتشريفكم لنا اليوم، يتجاوز التحية الرعوية الصرف، فهو علامة حب وعناق أبوي دافئ ورسالة دعم معنوي لهذه الجامعة التي انبثقت من رحم الكنيسة وستبقى وفية لرسالتها الثقافية والتربوية والوطنية في قلب الكنيسة والوطن”. \nأضاف رئيس جامعة الحكمة البروفسور نعمة متحدثا عن نشأة الجامعة فقال: “في العام 1875، برز رجل استثنائي هو المثلث الرحمات المطران يوسف الدبس، فأسس مدرسة الحكمة ومعها مشروعًا نهضويًا رائدًا ومتكاملا. لم يكن حلمه في التعليم منفصلا عن رؤيته في بناء الوطن، فأنشأ المعهد العالي للحقوق ليعدّ خريجين قادرين على تأسيس دولة تُبنى على الحق والعدالة والمواطنة الحقة، وهم خريجون يدأبون لبناء مجتمع متسامح ومتماسك ينبذ الظلم والتفرقة والفتنة والإنقسام ويرفض الطاعة العمياء للسلطان آنذاك”. \nوأشار البروفسور نعمة إلى أن المطران الدبس غرس في قلب الجامعة وفي عقل الوطن فكرة جريئة ما زالت تتردد في أروقة مؤسساتنا وتوجه مسيرتنا حتى اليوم: إبحثوا عن الحق ليكون لكم وطنًا. وقد كان في طليعة المبادرين إلى بناء وحدة وطنية أصيلة، حقيقية وشاملة، ففتح أبواب الحكمة على مصراعيها لأبناء الطوائف كافة، لينشئ أجيالا عى اللقاء والمحبة والإنتماء الصادق. \nوشارك رئيس جامعة الحكمة شهادة أحد أبرز المبعوثين البريطانيين في فترة التأسيس آنذاك وقد أوردها الدكتور إميل كابا في كتابه الذي صدر لمناسبة يوبيل المئة وخمس وعشرين سنة لتأسيس الحكمة، حيث قال: “إني رأيت في بيروت ثلاث دول تذيع نفوذها: بريطانيا وفرنسا والمطران يوسف الدبس. فبريطانيا كانت تذيع نفوذها بواسطة كلية الأميركيين، وفرنسا بواسطة كلية الآباء اليسوعيين، أما المطران الدبس فقد قام في مقام دولة عظيمة، وعزز في وطنه روح الوطنية الصحيحة، ومع أنه، لا معين له في أعماله سوى لسانه وقلمه، فقد رأيت كليته لا تقل أهمية عن الكليتين المذكورتين”. DESCRIPTION:Minister of Tourism\, Ms. Laura Al-Khazen Lahoud\, and President of Université La Sagesse\, Professor Georges Nehme\, signed a Memorandum of Understanding establishing a collaborative partnership between the Ministry and the university’s Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management. This agreement’s goal is to improve professional competencies within Lebanon’s tourism sector\, with particular emphasis on refining the skills of staff at the Beirut Rafic Hariri International Airport in welcoming visitors. \nThe partnership focuses on providing specialized training for airport personnel to enhance their skills in welcoming visitors\, thus contributing to the overall quality of tourism services in Lebanon. Additional joint projects will be developed at a later stage in alignment with the Ministry’s strategic priorities\, supporting the sustainable development and growth of the tourism sector. \nThe signing ceremony took place at the university’s main campus in Furn El Chebbak\, in the presence of the university’s vice presidents\, the Dean of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management\, Dr. Nour El Rachkidi\, members of the university council\, and the Director of the Minister’s Office\, Mr. Ghassan Haddad. \nMinister Lahoud affirmed the Ministry of Tourism’s interest in partnering with specialized academic institutions to advance the tourism sector\, which remains one of the main pillars of Lebanon’s national economy and a true reflection of the country’s identity. She noted that Lebanese people are widely known for their hospitality\, but what truly sets the Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management at Université La Sagesse apart is its professional approach to teaching hospitality as a specialized discipline and profession. She highlighted the value of the upcoming airport collaboration\, aimed at delivering a seamless and memorable first impression that elevates Lebanon’s image as a tourist destination. \nProfessor Nehme highlighted the importance of the Memorandum of Understanding as a reflection of effective cooperation between the public and private sectors in serving the public interest. He also pointed out that the Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management at the university is the only institution in Lebanon accredited by the École Hôtelière de Lausanne in Switzerland\, which is ranked first globally in the field of hospitality. \nDr. Rachkidi announced that the faculty is fully committed to offering its resources and expertise to the Ministry of Tourism in order to create added value that improves Lebanon’s image when welcoming tourists to the country. \n \n \n \n

DESCRIPTION:The Faculty of Public Health at Université La Sagesse\, in collaboration with the university’s Continuing Education Center and Canon Medical Systems\, organized a scientific training workshop titled “The Rise of Artificial Intelligence in Radiology and Its Impact on the Future of Medical Imaging.” The event welcomed Minister of Labor Dr. Mohammad Haidar\, expert in nuclear medicine\, who delivered a lecture on the role of artificial intelligence in improving diagnostic quality. Attendees included Paul Maqdisi\, President of the Lebanese Radiology Technicians Syndicate; Mr. Charbel Makhoul\, Regional Director of Canon Medical Systems; the university’s vice presidents; several members of the university council; Professor Diala Khoury\, Dean of the Faculty of Public Health; Dr. Nelly Hobeika\, Director of the Continuing Education Center; as well as a large number of doctors\, radiology technicians from various Lebanese hospitals\, and specialized professors. \nProfessor El Khoury: Advocating for Medical Imaging Innovation \nThe workshop opened with welcoming remarks from Professor El Khoury. She acknowledged Minister Haidar’s valuable contributions to the university\, highlighting his previous series of lectures on radiation protection that continue to make a scientific impact. \nProfessor El Khoury explained that the workshop aimed to open a scientific discussion about the therapeutic opportunities offered by the ongoing digital revolution\, as well as the challenges it presents to professionals working in diagnostic care through medical imaging. She emphasized the importance of adapting to rapid technological advances and benefiting from the positive developments in healthcare. \nProfessor El Khoury also noted that the workshop supports the mission of Université La Sagesse and its Faculty of Public Health by equipping students and professionals with the necessary skills alongside theoretical lessons. He stressed that keeping up with this technological shift is not solely the responsibility of the health sector but a national duty requiring cooperation among all sectors\, with a significant role for universities and higher education institutions. \nDr. Haidar emphasized that artificial intelligence is now a key factor in shaping the future of nations and should be accessible to all Lebanese citizens. He underlined the importance of universities bridging academic research with practical applications to ensure students and professionals develop a high level of competence and are well prepared for the future. He added that educational institutions\, through their research and training programs\, can nurture innovative ideas and pioneering initiatives that contribute to advancing the sector and providing advanced technological solutions. \nDr. Haidar also stressed the need to strengthen cooperation between universities\, government\, and the private sector to build a sustainable dialogue platform. This platform would focus on setting priorities\, offering continuous training\, developing skills\, and exchanging expertise. Such efforts would enable students to actively participate in the technological advancement process\, particularly since educational institutions are key drivers in shaping the digital future. \nDr. Haidar pointed out that developing national capabilities requires ongoing investment in education and training. He highlighted the role universities play in supporting entrepreneurial initiatives and fostering an environment conducive to innovation. He concluded by affirming confidence that Lebanon has the talent and expertise to lead in AI-assisted medical imaging if supported by the right environment\, policies\, and fruitful cooperation. \nCommemorative Shield and Training Sessions \nMr. Makhoul\, Regional Director of Canon Medical Systems\, also spoke\, affirming the company’s commitment to the future of healthcare not only through its medical imaging systems but also by embracing advanced technologies and AI-driven innovations. He explained that these tools help improve diagnostics and support faster decision-making\, positively impacting patient treatment. He emphasized that technology must always go hand in hand with education\, noting the importance of this workshop\, and calling for continued sharing of knowledge and expertise to support the medical community. \nIn recognition of his contributions\, Minister Dr. Mohammad Haidar was awarded a commemorative shield by Université La Sagesse and Canon Medical Systems. \nThe workshop concluded after three days of sessions that included specialized training in advanced medical imaging using the latest technologies\, with a focus on cardiac\, breast\, and prostate imaging. SUMMARY:SE.TC Workshop at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration
DESCRIPTION:Université La Sagesse hosted the SE.TC (Social Entrepreneurship in times of crises) workshop in Lebanon as part of the Erasmus+ program\, demonstrating its continued commitment to fostering social innovation and impact through education. \nOrganized by the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration\, the workshop brought together 9 participants with a dedicated team of instructors including Dr. Alain Osta (SE.TC Project Manager at Université La Sagesse)\, Dr. Ziad Haddad\, Dr. Sandreen Hitti\, Mr. Ghassan Eid\, Mr. Antoine El Miskawy\, Mr. Rodolphe Gabriel\, and Me Elie Karam. \nThe curriculum consisted of seven comprehensive modules delivered over seven weeks\, totaling three hours of training each week\, in line with the SE.TC course structure. These included Social Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice\, Social Impact\, Marketing\, Digital Tools\, Financial and Economic Sustainability\, Legal Frameworks\, and Business Plan Development. \nParticipants remained highly engaged throughout the training and showed a strong interest in deepening their understanding of financial literacy\, legal structures\, and strategies for resilience in times of crisis. Their feedback emphasized the importance of introducing the Legal Frameworks module earlier in the sequence and called for more content that reflects the realities of the Lebanese crisis. This is closely aligned with Université La Sagesse’s commitment to offering education that is both context-aware and socially relevant. \nPitching Ideas for Social Innovation \nThe workshop concluded on July 25 with a pitching session. Two groups of participants presented their social enterprise projects to a panel of experts who provided constructive feedback and guidance. \nGroup 1: SoloRaise \nIll Bou Samra and Rania Al Adel\, inspired by Rania’s personal experience\, proposed SoloRaise\, a restaurant and job platform designed to support single mothers. The project impressed the jury with its strong social relevance and potential for real-world impact. Suggestions were made to structure the initiative as a SARL (limited liability company) and to strengthen its transparency\, pricing\, and recruitment strategies. Additionally\, Dr. Sandreen Hitti encouraged the team to explore partnerships with organizations such as the LLWB NGO to enhance the project’s reach and effectiveness. \nGroup 2: Level Up \nCreated by Tia Attieh\, Carole Dib\, and Carl Sawaya\, Level UP aims to establish a Center for Life Skills Development to equip Lebanese youth with digital and soft skills. The team highlighted the importance of crisis-management training and self-sustainability\, particularly given Lebanon’s unstable socio-economic environment. The jury valued their thoughtful approach and emphasized the need for sensitive communication when addressing educational gaps. \nBuilding a Community of Changemakers \nThe closing ceremony was attended by Dr. Sandra Ghosn\, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration\, Dr. Nelly Hobeika\, Director of the Center for Continuing Education\, and Dr. Alain Osta. Participants were awarded certificates of attendance and completion in recognition of their dedication and achievement. \nThis workshop exemplifies Université La Sagesse’s commitment to integrating social responsibility and innovation within its academic programs. The university is proud to contribute to social impact education through Erasmus+ and to position social entrepreneurship at the core of our academic mission. DESCRIPTION:Le Centre de langues de l’Université La Sagesse\, en collaboration avec le Centre de formation permanente\, a organisé un atelier de formation sur l’utilisation de l’intelligence artificielle (IA) dans l’enseignement des langues\, explorant les opportunités qu’elle offre pour enrichir le processus éducatif d’une part\, et les limites à fixer pour éviter ses effets négatifs d’autre part. \nLes ateliers ont réuni les enseignants du Centre de langues de l’université\, les professeurs de langues des écoles de La Sagesse ainsi qu’un certain nombre d’écoles situées dans le diocèse maronite de Beyrouth. \nLors de son intervention\, M. Pierre Abdessater\, directeur du Centre de langues de l’Université La Sagesse\, a souligné que nous sommes aujourd’hui à un tournant. L’intelligence artificielle n’est pas une simple technologie passagère\, mais une véritable révolution\, comparable à celles qui ont marqué l’histoire de la transmission du savoir. Selon lui\, l’intelligence artificielle transforme notre manière d’enseigner\, d’apprendre et de dialoguer entre cultures et langues\, contribuant ainsi à créer un environnement éducatif dynamique et interactif. Mais\, comme toute révolution\, elle suscite interrogations et parfois inquiétudes. On se demande alors quel sera le rôle de l’enseignant\, et quel avenir attend le sens critique\, l’innovation et la créativité.\nMonsieur Abdessater a poursuivi en appelant à une ouverture éclairée sur les aspects positifs de l’IA plutôt qu’à la crainte\, en préconisant son intégration judicieuse dans la pratique éducative sans confondre progrès technologique et perte de sens.\nIl a insisté sur le fait que l’IA ne doit pas remplacer l’humain\, mais servir à soutenir et enrichir les connaissances. Il a ajouté que Les ateliers constituait\, en substance\, une invitation à explorer les moyens de s’adapter à l’IA et d’en faire un allié\, et non un maître. \n  \nConférences et exercices pratiques \nLes ateliers ont proposé une série de conférences et d’exercices pratiques centrés sur l’utilisation efficace de l’intelligence artificielle et de ses plateformes spécialisées dans les langues et l’enseignement pour accompagner les étudiants et élèves. Les participants ont été alertés sur les erreurs parfois graves que l’IA peut commettre\, ce qui impose d’adopter une approche critique face aux contenus qu’elle fournit. L’objectif est ainsi d’intégrer l’intelligence artificielle de manière responsable dans le processus éducatif\, en l’utilisant comme un outil complémentaire plutôt que comme un substitut. \nIl a été confirmé que l’intelligence artificielle ne remplacera pas les enseignants\, mais que ceux qui l’adopteront surpasseront ceux qui ne l’utilisent pas. \nQuant aux étudiants et élèves\, les formateurs ont observé qu’ils ont souvent tendance à utiliser l’intelligence artificielle pour préparer leurs recherches et devoirs scolaires sans vérifier les informations fournies\, ce qui entraîne un manque de cohérence et de clarté dans leurs travaux. Cela souligne l’importance de les encourager en permanence à fournir un travail personnel afin de développer un bon niveau scientifique\, puis à utiliser l’IA de manière complémentaire\, sans s’y fier de manière absolue. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n

SUMMARY:Accord de coopération entre l’Université Catholique de Lyon et l’Université La Sagesse
DESCRIPTION:En vue de renforcer leur coopération et de consolider leurs liens avec de grandes institutions académiques\, le recteur de l’Université La Sagesse\, le professeur Georges N. Nehme\, et le recteur de l’Université Catholique de Lyon\, le père professeur Grégory Woimbée\, ont signé un accord de coopération\, marquant le début d’un partenariat global aux dimensions académiques\, scientifiques\, culturelles et de développement. Ce partenariat concerne aussi bien les étudiants que les enseignants et le personnel administratif. \nLa cérémonie de signature s’est déroulée en présence de la délégation accompagnant le recteur de l’Université Catholique de Lyon ainsi que des membres du Conseil de l’Université La Sagesse. \nLors de son intervention\, le professeur George Nehme a rappelé les nombreux points communs entre les deux universités\, toutes deux fondées en 1875 et célébrant cette année leur 150ème jubilé. Il a souligné que l’Université La Sagesse se distingue parmi les universités catholiques du Liban par son lien direct avec l’Archidiocèse maronite de Beyrouth sous l’égide du Monseigneur Boulos Abdul Sater\, Archevêque Maronite de Beyrouth et Chancelier de l’université. Il a ajouté que\, face aux nombreux défis auxquels sont confrontées les universités\, cette coopération avec l’Université Catholique de Lyon constitue une opportunité précieuse pour développer des programmes communs et partager une vision d’avenir. \nLe recteur de La Sagesse a également affirmé que cet accord s’inscrit dans la stratégie de l’université visant à élargir son réseau international de partenariats académiques. \nDe son côté\, le père Grégory Woimbée a souligné les valeurs et la mission partagées par les deux institutions\, insistant sur l’importance du rôle des universités catholiques dans la formation d’élites capables de contribuer à la stabilité et au développement de la société. Il a par ailleurs réaffirmé la volonté de l’Université Catholique de Lyon de renforcer ses liens avec d’autres établissements d’enseignement supérieur et de développer des projets ambitieux favorisant l’épanouissement des étudiants et la construction d’un avenir prometteur.

DESCRIPTION:“The university’s mission is not limited to teaching and research\, but it is also a safe cultural laboratory for communication” \nUniversité La Sagesse hosted visiting Professor Vincenzo Rosito from the Pontifical John Paul II Theological Institute for Marriage and Family Sciences in Rome\, as part of the cooperation agreement signed between the university and the institute to organize conferences\, workshops\, training sessions\, and the exchange of knowledge and expertise. \nOver the course of three days\, Professor Rosito delivered specialized lectures organized by the Director of the Family Institute at Université la Sagesse\, Father Youssef Abi Zeid\, in the presence of Bishop Antoine Aoukar\, the Dean of the Faculty of Religious and Theological Sciences\, Father Tanios Khalil\, and members of the University Council: Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Rayan Haykal\, Vice President for Research and Development Dr. Etienne Harb\, Vice President for International and Institutional Relations Dr. Lily Assaf\, along with a large number of professors from the Faculty of Political Sciences and International Relations and the Faculty of Religious and Theological Sciences. \nThe lectures focused on the educational experiences and pedagogical guidelines developed at the Institute in Rome in recent years\, starting from the effort to put academic communities at the service of the synodal church on the one hand\, and to integrate synodal values and practices into the management of academic life on the other. They also addressed ways to prepare students in a meaningful way for the important roles they will play in the synodal Church. \nProfessor Vincenzo Rosito emphasized that there are three essential missions that shape the role of a university: teaching; researching; communicating the results of research. He added that communication is a core element of these missions\, as it conveys the “truths of reality” and the “words of life\,” and undoubtedly\, academic life is negatively affected when the balance between teaching\, research\, and communication is disrupted. \nRosito continued by noting that commitment to research—whether individual or collective—is necessary to avoid repeating the same lessons given to students over the years. Moreover\, the questions raised by students provide valuable material for research and for preparing comprehensive scientific responses. Therefore\, the circularity between teaching and research is fundamental. However\, it remains insufficient without adding the third mission\, which is communication. \nHe stressed that through communication\, the university demonstrates its commitment to building “the world we share.” This can be achieved by opening up to initiatives with non-academic entities and institutions (associations\, professional groups\, pastoral movements\, and so on). Thus\, academic communities do not confine themselves to “teaching” only\, but also engage in “learning” through enhanced communication\, which in turn leads to improve both teaching and research. Rosito added that this third mission also reflects the professors’ commitment to renewing teaching methods and adopting new research methods. \nThe visiting professor Vincenzo Rosito also cited a statement by Pope Francis calling for joint efforts to make universities “a sort of providential cultural laboratory in which the Church carries out the performative interpretation of the reality brought about the Christ event.” \nThe meaning of a “cultural laboratory” in academic life \nThe lectures were followed by workshops in which participants addressed the meaning of a “cultural laboratory” as well as “ways of effectively interpreting reality in academic life.” The discussions emphasized that the university is such a safe laboratory\, one that opens the way for learning through experiences\, mistakes\, revisions\, and corrections. It is not merely a place for scientific truths\, but also a space that transforms communities as they search for “scientific truths”. It is also that laboratory which discovers ways of dialogue between cultures and within each culture. \n  \n \n          \n  \n  \n
