Nehme\, followed by a speech from Mr. Metni\, representative of the Adel Metni Foundation. During his speech\, he showed a video from the training. Representatives from IMPEX and Advanced Car Rentals also shared their words. \n \nCertificates were presented to the participants in recognition of their participation. The program’s valued partners\, IMPEX and Advanced Car Rentals\, also received certificates of appreciation for their contributions to this initiative.

It brought together students\, faculty members\, and staff in the Main Hall for a joyful start to the Christmas season. \nThe event started with a prayer prepared and conducted by Chaplain Fr. Joseph Nayel\, accompanied by Christmas chants sung by Marianne Saïd\, giving everyone a chance to reflect and connect. The highlight of the event was the lighting of the Christmas tree\, which created a warm\, festive atmosphere. \nAfter lighting the tree\, the President\, Professor Georges N. Nehme shared a few words with the audience. \nAs part of the celebration of Saint Barbara\, participants enjoyed the traditional eating of wheat\, prepared by the Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management. He also expressed his gratitude for the dedication and hard work of the employees\, offering words of encouragement as the university looks ahead to the coming year. \n \nAfter his word\, Mrs. Marianne Said performed a selection of Christmas chants\, adding a melodious touch to the celebration. \n \nThe event concluded with a festive gathering. It was an opportunity for the university community to celebrate together.

DESCRIPTION:Université La Sagesse signs a MoU with SEEDS for Legal Initiatives \nUniversité La Sagesse and SEEDS for Legal Initiatives have formalized their collaboration through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding\, aiming to advance legal education and advocacy. \n \nThis agreement builds on the course “Dealing with the Past: The Missing and the Forcibly Disappeared in Lebanon”\, implemented by the Faculty of Law Legal Clinic\, in partnership with SEEDS and supported by OHCHR. \nOver 500 participants already enrolled in the course\, and it is accessible to the public via: mooc.uls.edu.lb/. \n \nThe signing of the MOU will implement the development of a new module in the existing MOOC. The new module is supported by UN Women. It will focus on gender-sensitive perspectives in the context of enforced disappearances\, addressing the challenges faced by women as relatives of the disappeared. \n \n

SUMMARY:The International Conference on Control\, Automation\, and Instrumentation at the Faculty of Engineering
DESCRIPTION:The Faculty of Engineering at Université La Sagesse hosted for the first time the International Conference on Control\, Automation\, and Instrumentation (IC2AI’25)\, supported by IEEE and IFAC. The event explored integrating Artificial Intelligence with human capabilities to enhance applications\, particularly in robotics. \nAttendees included former Minister of Industry Georges Bouchikian\, Université La Sagesse’s President Professor Georges N. Nehme\, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Sagesse University Professor Elie Ahmar\, and the Head of the Mechatronics Engineering Department at Sagesse University and conference organizer and supervisor\, Professor Roy Abi Zeid Doueihy. Also\, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at the Lebanese University\, Professor Nazih Moubayed\, and the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at AUST\, Professor Roger Ashkar attended; in addition to academics\, industry professionals\, and Université La Sagesse community members. \nFormer Minister Georges Bouchikian stressed the importance of the conference in linking academia and industry\, promoting technological advancement\, and strengthening Lebanon’s economy. He highlighted past ministry efforts\, including robotics manufacturing licensing. \nProfessor Georges Nehme\, President of Université La Sagesse\, emphasized the university’s commitment to research and industry collaboration\, aiming to become a leading research hub. He called for joint efforts from the government and private sector to fund scientific research. \nProfessor Roy Abi Zeid\, Head of the Mechatronics Engineering Department and the conference’s organizer\, emphasized the event’s strong academic considerations. 72 research papers were submitted from 18 countries\, and through a thorough review process\, 37 were selected. \n \nSince its establishment in 2017\, the Faculty of Engineering at Université La Sagesse has been graduating students in recognized engineering fields: Chemical\, Biomedical\, Computer\, and Mechatronics Engineering. The diplomas awarded are officially recognized by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education\, and are eligible to join the Order of Engineers and Architects. \n

It will feature workshops and lectures on the latest developments in insurance policies and contracts\, delivered by university professors and experts from Arabia Insurance. \nThe signing ceremony was attended by Camille Nakouzi\, advisor at Arabia Insurance; Dr. Etienne Harb\, Vice President for Research and Development at Université La Sagesse; Dr. Nelly Hobeika\, Director of the Center for Continuing Education; along with university board members and representatives from Arabia Insurance. \nUniversité La Sagesse president\, Professor Georges N. Nehme\, emphasized that the training program will strengthen students’ and professionals’ expertise in the insurance sector\, fostering trust and supporting economic growth. He highlighted its role in developing a skilled youth workforce\, aligning with the university’s national and academic missions. \nElie Khoury highlighted Arabia Insurance’s dedication to preparing young Lebanese professionals by providing them with the necessary skills to thrive in the insurance sector\, reinforcing the company’s role in industry development as it marks 81 years. \n \n

Nehme\, l’Université La Sagesse a officiellement lancé l’année jubilaire célébrant son 150ème anniversaire\, lors une cérémonie d’inauguration. \n \nPlusieurs personnalités ont participé à l’évènement\, notamment des membres du clergé tels que Monseigneur Aghnatios Asmar\, Vicaire Général de l’Archidiocèse\, et Monseigneur Pierre Abi Saleh\, Vice-Évêque pour les Secteurs. \nPlusieurs députés étaient également présents\, dont Ibrahim Kanaan\, Farid Al-Boustani\, Nadim Gemayel\, Paula Yacoubian\, ainsi que Nicolas Sehnaoui\, représentant le président du Courant Patriotique Libre\, Gebran Bassil. \nParmi les anciens ministres figuraient Alain Hakim\, ancien ministre\, représentant le président du Parti Kataëb\, Sami Gemayel\, et Ziad Makari\, ancien ministre\, représentant le président du Mouvement Marada\, Sleiman Franjieh. Le Professeur Ziad Harro a représenté le président du Parti des Forces Libanaises\, Samir Geagea. \nLe secteur académique était également bien représenté avec la présence de Dr. Mazen Khatib\, Directeur Général de l’Enseignement Supérieur\, Jean-Noël Balliu\, Directeur Régional de l’Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie pour le Moyen-Orient\, ainsi que Laurence Cousar\, Responsable du Partenariat Scientifique et Universitaire à l’Ambassade de France. \nL’événement a aussi accueilli des personnalités syndicalistes\, des représentants d’agences internationales\, des partenaires\, ainsi que les directeurs des écoles de La Sagesse\, des établissements de santé\, des médias et des membres de la famille de l’Université La Sagesse. \nLa cérémonie a débuté par l’hymne national libanais\, suivi de l’hymne de l’université\, avant une prière conduite par Monseigneur Abdul Sater\, marquant ainsi le lancement officiel des festivités. \nL’Université La Sagesse : Un Modèle de Sagesse et d’Engagement \nDans son discours\, Monseigneur Abdul Sater a souligné que toutes nos paroles et actions doivent viser le bien de l’homme et de la patrie. Il a rappelé que La Sagesse a toujours été un lieu de soutien pour ceux en quête d’une vie meilleure. \n  \n \nSon Excellence a affirmé que La Sagesse doit rester une institution chrétienne et nationale\, engagée dans le développement social\, psychologique et spirituel des individus. Il a insisté sur l’importance de poursuivre cette mission pour le bien-être humain et national\, en veillant toujours à respecter les principes de justice\, dignité et éthique. \nMonseigneur Abdul Sater a commémoré le 150ème jubilée de La Sagesse mettant en avant sa résilience face aux défis et aux épreuves au fil des ans. Il a rendu hommage aux fondateurs de l’Université\, en particulier au Monseigneur Joseph Debs\, ainsi qu’au Monseigneur Ignace Zayadeh\, au Monseigneur Khalil Abi Nader\, et au Monseigneur Paul Matar. \nEnfin\, Son Excellence a encouragé les dirigeants et le personnel de l’ULS à servir les étudiants avec bienveillance. Il leur a rappelé l’importance de laisser une empreinte positive dans leur cœur et leur mémoire. Il a également souligné que leurs actions doivent être guidées par le bien de l’homme\, de la nation et de l’Université\, en répondant à la confiance que l’Église et l’archevêché leur ont accordée. \nL’Université La Sagesse : Un Modèle d’Excellence Académique \nDans son discours\, le Professeur Georges Nehme a présenté les récents accomplissements et les avancées stratégiques de l’Université La Sagesse. \n \nIl a annoncé l’accréditation des programmes de la Faculté de Droit et de la Faculté d’Économie et de Gestion par la Fondation Européenne pour l’Accréditation de l’Administration des Affaires Internationales (FIBAA)\, garantissant leur reconnaissance jusqu’en 2030. La démarche d’accréditation\, en constante expansion\, se poursuivra avec l’accréditation d’autres facultés\, telles que la Faculté d’Ingénierie et la Faculté de Santé Publique. De plus\, l’École Hôtelière de Lausanne a renouvelé la certification académique de la Faculté de Tourisme et de Gestion Hôtelière. \nLe Recteur a également mis en lumière plusieurs initiatives lancées ces trois dernières années pour renforcer l’excellence académique de l’université. Parmi celles-ci\, il a souligné le renforcement des partenariats avec des universités internationales\, favorisant des échanges académiques et des collaborations de haut niveau. \nIl a mentionné\, en premier lieu\, le lancement en 2023 du Centre de Formation Continue\, permettant aux étudiants l’opportunité d’acquérir de nouvelles compétences et de se perfectionner dans leurs domaines d’études. \nIl a ensuite souligné qu’en 2024\, l’université a continué sur cette lancée avec l’ouverture du Centre de l’Entrepreneuriat Pulse\, en partenariat avec l’Université de Lorraine. Ce centre a pour objectif de promouvoir l’innovation et le leadership\, préparant ainsi nos étudiants à devenir des acteurs clés dans le domaine entrepreneurial. \nLe Professeur Nehme a annoncé l’ouverture d’un Centre d’Inclusion Universitaire en Faveur des Personnes à Besoins Spécifiques\, visant à garantir des opportunités égales pour ces étudiants. Cette initiative renforce leur parcours académique et facilite leur intégration professionnelle\, soulignant l’engagement de l’université pour un environnement académique équitable et de qualité pour tous. \nLe Recteur a souligné que l’université avance avec succès selon son programme 2021-2026\, avec plus de 80 % des objectifs déjà atteins. Ce programme sera achevé d’ici la fin de l’année ou au début de l’année prochaine. Il a aussi annoncé que\, dans les mois à venir\, l’élaboration d’un nouveau plan stratégique pour la période de 2026-2031 va débuter. \nSignature des Nouveaux Textes Réglementaires \nMonseigneur Abdul Sater a signé la première version officielle des nouveaux textes réglementaires de l’université\, garantissant ainsi la transparence\, la participation et l’efficacité. Ces textes incluent : Le Statut organique\, Le Statut de l’enseignant\, le Règlement de la recherche scientifique à L’Université La Sagesse\, et La Politique d’Assurance Qualité. \n \nLes festivités du 150ème jubilé se poursuivront tout au long de l’année avec une série d’événements académiques et culturels. \n

DESCRIPTION:Le 4 mars 2025\, la Faculté de Droit de l’Université La Sagesse a accueilli l’Union Internationale des Avocats (UIA)\, offrant aux étudiants une occasion unique de mieux comprendre les enjeux juridiques internationaux et les opportunités professionnelles qu’offre cette organisation. \nL’événement a accueilli Me Élisabeth Sioufi et M. Carlo Mastellone qui ont partagé leur expertise avec les étudiants. \nLes étudiants ont été introduits à l’UIA\, mettant en avant son réseau international\, ses programmes de formation et les nombreux avantages qu’elle offre aux jeunes juristes. Ils ont été invités à explorer les ressources et opportunités disponibles sur le site officiel de l’UIA. \nAussi\, la Charte des Principes Fondamentaux sur l’Accès à la Justice des Femmes Victimes de Violence a été abordée. Ce document\, soutenu par de nombreux barreaux et associations d’avocats à travers le monde\, met en lumière l’importance d’assurer un accès équitable à la justice pour les femmes victimes de violence\, ainsi que le rôle clé des avocats dans leur soutien juridique. \nCet événement a permis aux étudiants de découvrir l’impact et les ressources de l’UIA\, tout en mettant en avant les opportunités professionnelles qu’elle offre et son rôle essentiel dans les enjeux juridiques mondiaux.

It was attended by La Sagesse’s vice presidents and board members\, as well as by the OMT team. \n \nAs part of this collaboration\, an OMT branch will be opened on campus\, providing exclusive financial services to the university community and equipping students with essential knowledge about the evolving financial services sector. \n  \nProfessor Nehme emphasized that this partnership reflects the university’s commitment to supporting its faculty\, staff\, and students by providing seamless financial services. He highlighted that such initiatives not only strengthen the sense of belonging within the university community but also contribute to students’ academic success and skill development. \n \nHe further stressed the importance of this partnership with OMT\, noting that it provides the university community with access to a wide range of financial services tailored to their needs. \nMr. Naji Abou Zeid expressed his pride in this collaboration\, which strengthens OMT’s connection with students\, faculty\, and administrative staff. He reiterated that the primary goal is to simplify financial transactions\, expand access to fintech solutions\, and enhance financial literacy among students. She talked about the importance of owning your story\, making thoughtful career choices\, and carrying yourself with confidence. Her message was clear: leadership starts from within and shapes the way we inspire and motivate others. \n \nThe session wrapped up with a Q&A. SUMMARY:Renaissance du Centre d’Études du Développement International et les Mouvements Économiques et Sociaux (CEDIMES) à l’Université la Sagesse
DESCRIPTION:Le Centre d’Études du Développement International et les Mouvements Économiques et Sociaux (CEDIMES) a été fondé en 1972 par le Professeur Emérite Jacques Austruy au sein de l’Université Panthéon-Assas Paris. \nDepuis il est devenu un Institut constituant une Fédération Académique Internationale Francophone. Celle-ci est établie dans 25 pays et compte plus d’une soixantaine d’équipes réunissant chacune une dizaine à plus de soixante membres. Elles sont désignées sous le nom de Délégations Régionales avec pour mission de promouvoir la recherche interdisciplinaire sur les enjeux liés à la mondialisation\, au développement territorial\, à l’entrepreneuriat\, ainsi qu’aux mouvements économiques et sociaux. Cette coordination universitaire vise à répondre aux défis contemporains du développement international tout en favorisant la collaboration entre chercheurs\, institutions et acteurs de terrain. L’Institut est actuellement présidé par le Professeur Claude Albagli. \nCEDIMES a bénéficié jusqu’à maintenant de quatre parrainages prestigieux\, d’abord\, le Professeur Maurice Allais\, Prix Nobel\, et le Chancelier de l’Académie Française\, ancien Premier Ministre Pierre Messmer. Puis après leur disparition\, par l’ancien Chef d’Etat et secrétaire général de l’Organisation internationale de la Francophonie\, Abdou Diouf et l’ancien Premier Ministre Jean-Pierre Raffarin\, éminent spécialiste de la Chine. \nDepuis plus d’un demi-siècle\, l’Institut CEDIMES avec ses équipes sises sur les différents continents\, est engagé dans des programmes de recherches couvrant Développement\, Territoires et Entrepreneuriat. Il développe des moyens éditoriaux en ouvrages et revues\, coanime des formations en Master au Kazakhstan\, en Chine\, en Haïti\, au Cameroun\, au Congo RDC. \nCEDIMES décerne des Prix Internationaux de Recherche\, organise des Universités d’été en Chine\, polarise des Collèges Doctoraux internationaux\, anime de nombreux Colloques et séminaires. \nMembre de l’AUF (Agence Universitaire Francophone)\, l’Institut CEDIMES a signé de nombreuses conventions du fait de sa capacité de réunir dans un même programme des universitaires issus d’établissements nationaux géographiquement très diversifiés. Depuis l’an 2000\, plus de 3500 chercheurs ont fait tout ou partie de leur chemin académique avec nous. \nL’objectif de l’Institut est de favoriser les échanges scientifiques et les dialogues académiques entre chercheurs et institutions issus de sphères culturelles différentes pour mieux appréhender les défis du développement dans leurs aspects socio-économiques et entrepreneuriaux. Il se veut un creuset d’écoutes et de dialogues où les différences enrichissent et relativisent. Une élite estudiantine doctorale a bénéficié de ces ouvertures culturelles et de ces approfondissements scientifiques auprès d’un aéropage professoral ouvert\, créatif et doté de personnalités éminentes. \nLes chercheurs libanais ont été parmi les premiers à rejoindre le CEDIMES sous la houlette du Professeur Ibrahim Maroun.\nLe 17 mars 2025\, le passage du flambeau auprès de Mme Lily Assaf constitue une renaissance vigoureuse incarnée au sein de l’Université La Sagesse avec un premier noyau de 32 sociétaires exprimant leur volonté de participer et de contribuer pleinement aux objectifs scientifiques et humanistes de l’Institut. \n\nÉquipe dirigeante de CEDIMES Liban \nA la réunion constitutive du 17 mars 2025\, le Bureau National du CEDIMES Liban a été constitué par élection\, comme suit : \n\nLily ASSAF – Directrice Nationale Liban\nRayan HAYKAL – Délégué Régional Beyrouth\nHoda HALABY – Secrétaire Général\nÉtienne HARB – Chargé de Mission à la Recherche Scientifique\nNelly HOBEIKA – Chargée de Mission à la Formation\nDaisy BOUJAWDEH – Chargée de Mission au Développement International\nElie ABI AAD – Chargé de Mission aux Affaires Administratives et Juridiques\n\n\nUne relance structurée autour de la collaboration et de la continuité \nLa réunion du 17 mars a posé les premiers jalons de la relance du CEDIMES Liban. Grâce à une équipe spécialisée\, et à l’accueil bienveillant de l’Université La Sagesse\, le centre national bénéficie maintenant d’une organisation structurée et d’une administration active. Cette nouvelle dynamique assurera la soutenabilité des projets du réseau\, en valorisant la recherche scientifique locale\, et en stimulant les interactions avec les autres centres du CEDIMES à l’échelle mondiale.
