The Sagesse Faculty of Hospitality Management (SFHM) was honored to host the Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne (EHL) certified university delegates for their 5th Biennial Conference for the first time in Beirut, Lebanon. The participants from the EHL schools, including Switzerland, China, Mexico, India, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, Philippines, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, and Lebanon (Sagesse University), gathered to discuss how to stimulate the learning environment for the new generation.

The conference and opening ceremony were under the patronage of the Minister of Tourism, Mr. Avedis Guidanian. In addition to the minister, the President of Sagesse University, Father Khalil Chalfoun; the Chairman of EHL, Mr. Ernst Brugger; the President of the Hotel Syndicate, Mr. Pierre Al Achkar; the President of the Restaurant Syndicate, Mr. Tony Rami; and the Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Tanios Kassis; were in attendance to share opening remarks and inaugurate the meeting.

During the three day conference, many presentations and sessions were held to discuss the future of hospitality learning. Delegates interacted with the president, administration, and students throughout their visit.

After attending a SFHM student presentation on how to bridge the gap between education and the workforce, the delegation was invited by the President of the Lebanese Republic, Michel Aoun, to visit the Presidential Palace. This visit was the first of its kind since President Aoun introduced the initiative for dialogue and cultural discussion.

The conference culminated in a lavish gala dinner with many international invitees including ambassadors of the EHL (certified schools) represented nations. The dinner, held at the SFHM faculty in Beirut, was attended by Mgr. Paul Matar, the Archbishop of Beirut, and the Minister of Tourism, who gave their compliments to the delegates.

Overall, the delegation was extremely impressed with the excellence, quality, and level of service at the Sagesse Faculty of Hospitality Management. They expressed their gratitude to not only to the President of Sagesse University, but also to Dr. Kassis and his staff.

The visit ended with a day of sightseeing at the most well-known sites in Lebanon, which included Baalbak, Byblos, Harissa, the Chouf, and the Jeita Grotto.
